Montagne Expériences by ESF

Who doesn't know the "reds" of the ESF during the winter season? With their instantly recognisable overalls, they can be identified from afar and have contributed to the development of the ski industry by giving ski lessons for decades. But the ESF doesn't stop at winter: their instructors, who are often local, also offer a wide range of outdoor activities in the mountains during the summer months. This is particularly true of canyoning!

For example, they offer a half-day trip to the Eau Rousse canyon, at a cost of €55.
They also organise trips to other canyons on request.

RAFTING

For thrill-seekers and river sports enthusiasts, rafting is one of the most popular activities available in Peisey-Vallandry. Aboard an inflatable boat, as a couple, with family or friends, you can hurtle down the rushing waters of the Isère, recognised as one of the most beautiful rivers in the Alps.

The Isère river

The Isère rises at the Grande Aiguille Rousse glacier - on the border between the Tarentaise and Maurienne regions - before flowing downstream towards Grenoble and emptying into the Rhône 286 kilometres further on, at Pont-de-l'Isère (Drôme).

Along the way, it links Bourg-Saint-Maurice with Centron. This particular route has become a famous rafting spot, making it one of the longest descents in France and a great classic in the Alps. The full descent offers 22 kilometres of rapids in superb scenery, divided into three sections:
  • Bourg-Saint-Maurice / Bellentre: medium difficulty, including the Landry rapids for beginners.
  • Bellentre / Aime: a more challenging section, including the Aime rapids (level IV - rated from 1 to 6).
  • Aime / Centron: the final section to the Centron gorges, for an intermediate level of difficulty.
Summary
Distance: 22 km.
Difficulty: from 2 (moderately difficult) to 4 (very difficult).
Type of navigation: from discovery to sporty.

FISHING

Peisey-Vallandry offers a number of fishing spots for a less active, more contemplative approach and a different kind of relationship with nature. You can fish on your own, using your own equipment, and discover the many varieties of fish that make up the richness of the local fauna.

For example, you can enjoy a spot of sunrise fishing on the shores of Lac de la Plagne or Lac des Moutons before returning home proudly in the evening with the fruits of your catch. The trophy of the day!

When and how to fish?

In addition to the equipment - which is available to all anglers - it's important to note that fishing is only possible on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays and public holidays. The daily price is €9 for everyone.

Where can I buy a fishing licence?

There are 3 sales outlets where you can buy your fishing licence, which is a compulsory prerequisite for fishing:
