TOUR OF THE IGLOO VILLAGE AND THE ICE CAVE
 


Wednesday 8 March - 10.30 am to 12.00 noon – Igloo Village - near the bottom of the Arcabulle chairlift
 
This is your opportunity to explore the IGLOO VILLAGE, made entirely of snow and ice, to wander through an unusual world at an altitude of more than 2000m, with its snow bedrooms, to travel through the galleries in the ICE CAVE whose theme is « The pirates » and to take a break in the magical universe of the ICE BAR to enjoy a hot drink offered.
 
Meet at 10.30 am by the entrance to the igloo village.

To extend this moment, an initiation to snow sculpture is offered by the Village Igloo. You will be able to learn this artistic practice for one hour. You will have at your disposal several tools to make your creation appear inside a block of immaculate snow. A professional sculptor will accompany you and share her knowledge and tips so that you can reproduce a sample sculpture. AN INTRODUCTION TO CLASSIC CROOS-COUNTRY SKIING  


 

Wednesday 15th March – 10:45am – Meeting point at the Peisey-Vallandry nordic centre at Pont Baudin

An introduction to classic cross-country skiing accompanied by an ESF instructor. With your classic equipment, stay in the rail-trails for an hour of pure pleasure at the nordic site. You will be amazed by the beauty of this place we call « little Canada ». After the session you can continue to discover this lovely place on one of the many groomed walks. Several catering options are available on site: the Petit Hibou, the Fer à Cheval, the Pause des Lanchettes and the Ancolie. Don't forget to book in advance!
 
Meeting point: in front of the nordic centre at Pont Baudin at 10:45am to collect your pass and your equipment (the trial session starts at 11oclock with the ESF). You can use the free shuttle from Peisey-Vallandry to access Pont Baudin. Check the timetables here.

GUIDED TOUR "ARCHI SKI"



Tuesday 21th March - 10am - Meeting point at the Arc 1800 snow front, in front of the digital opening screen of the ski area, opposite the Vagère chairlift departure
 
Accompanied by a ski instructor and a tour guide, discover the fascinating history behind the unique architecture in Arc 1600 and Arc 1800 on a cultural ski tour. Follow the pistes to reveal the secrets behind the pioneering “built on a slope” construction style favored in Les Arcs, and it’s perfect integration within the natural landscape. Both resorts have obtained the 20th Century Heritage label.
 
Meet at 10.00am at the Arc 1800 snow front, in front of the digital opening screen of the ski area, opposite the Vagère chairlift departure.

PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT VS OPERATING SKI RESORTS 



Monday 27 March at 3.00 pm – At the “2 têtes” technical center – Arc 1600 (accessible on skis and on foot)
 
How do you reconcile tourist activities and respect for the mountain environment? Ski resorts have a poor ecological reputation. However, solid and sustainable actions are already in place in Les Arcs/Bourg Saint Maurice and Peisey-Vallandry. Experts who are passionate about our resorts invite you to a moment of sharing and discussion about the essential ecological objectives and their work.
 
On the programme:
  • Welcome snack in the ADS Technical Centre at 3.00 pm.
  • Presentation of the environmental actions at resort level and in the ski area with a focus on “reasonable grooming”.
  • Grand quizz with prizes to be won!
  • Guided tour and explanation of how a piste-grooming machine works.
  • The visit will end with the spectacle of the piste-grooming machines setting off.
 
Meeting point: 3.00 pm at the “2 têtes” technical center above Arc 1600.
  • Access on skis: by the Arpette or Mont Blanc piste, turn right above the Club Med kindergarten + footbridge on the right.
  • Access on foot: heading towards 2000, bus stop after UCPA / before Club Med.
To guide you, there will be reception staff in place above the Club Med kindergarten and at the bus stop.
