Ski touring

Freedom in the mountains, yes, but safely!

Ski touring is a discipline that allows you to leave the marked trails behind and set off to conquer virgin slopes and wild landscapes. It is the perfect combination of the effort of the climb and the pleasure of the descent, in the heart of unspoilt nature.

Climbing with sealskins

  • Skis are equipped with climbing skins (non-slip adhesive strips) attached under the base to allow you to climb on snow without sliding backwards.
  • The bindings leave the heel free during the ascent, making it easier to walk uphill.
  • It's a moment of total immersion, where you progress at your own pace, surrounded by the silence of the mountains.

Safety first

Ski touring takes place in natural surroundings, where conditions can change rapidly. Before each outing, it is essential to check the weather forecast and avalanche risk, to be familiar with your route and never to set off alone.

Safety equipment is essential: avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe, as well as a helmet and sometimes a harness for technical passages.

In Peisey-Vallandry, qualified guides and instructors offer supervised outings, which are ideal for learning how to use this equipment correctly and adopting the right reflexes in the mountains. -> Find a guide
