Winter in Peisey-Vallandry
Winter in Peisey-Vallandry
When snow covers the slate roofs and the forests freeze over with frost, Peisey-Vallandry enters its most magical season. Nestled at an altitude of 1,600 metres, the resort offers an exceptional natural setting in the heart of the Paradiski ski area, one of the largest in Europe, where glaciers, forests and peaks intertwine to create a breathtaking landscape.
The slopes of the Les Arcs / Peisey-Vallandry Mountain Area invite you to enjoy all kinds of winter sports! Downhill skiing, ski touring, snowboarding, sledging and even cross-country skiing with the Peisey-Vallandry Nordic Area, located in Pont Baudin (Vallon de Rosuel). This valley is also the ideal place for those who prefer to take it easy, with a network of marked trails for hiking and snowshoeing. Themed itineraries connect traditional chalets, waterfalls and panoramic viewpoints in both winter and summer, particularly on the Mont Pourri and Bellecôte glaciers.
A unique mountain resort
- 425 km of downhill ski slopes between the glaciers and forests of Paradiski (from 1,200 m to 3,226 m altitude).
- 43 km of cross-country ski trails in the Rosuel area with its biathlon stadium and shooting range.
- 4 ski touring routes, including 2 marked trails in Peisey-Vallandry.
- 1 connection to La Plagne in 4 minutes thanks to the Vanoise Express (Plan-Peisey).
- 2 peaks over 3,000 metres.
- 3 progression areas for beginners, including one located at the top of the Vallandry gondola lift.
- 70% of the mountain area is above 2,000 metres.
Must-see attractions
- Le Balcon sur la Vanoise: perched at an altitude of 2,300 metres and accessible from the 2300 chairlift, this viewpoint offers a 360° panorama of the Bellecôte, Alliet and Aiguille Rousse mountain ranges, complete with deckchairs, binoculars and an interactive photo terminal to immortalise your visit.
- The Mountain Animal Museum: covering 120 m², it presents more than thirty Alpine species — ibex, chamois, ptarmigan — in a setting combining a cabinet of curiosities and local works of art, for a fun and educational immersion into the heart of the Vanoise's wildlife.
- Notre-Dame des Vernettes: a jewel of Baroque art in the Tarentaise, this sanctuary perched on the edge of the forest can be reached on skis or snowshoes (9 km round trip, + 400 m), and welcomes visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in a superb setting between the north face of Bellecôte and the Aiguille Rousse.
- The Nordic Domain (Pont Baudin): explore 43 km of trails designed for skating, classic skiing and biathlon, following in the footsteps of Éric Perrot (local gold medallist biathlete) and at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park.
Activities for all tastes
Thrills, discoveries and traditions in the heart of winter
Peisey-Vallandry also has plenty to offer away from the slopes, with experiences to suit all tastes: whizz down the toboggan runs in complete safety, then take to the skies with a paragliding baptism to fly over the snow-covered valleys and peaks. Close to the ground, hop on an all-terrain scooter with big wheels or an electric fat bike to explore the groomed trails. For a more gentle break, let yourself be guided by a reindeer sleigh through the pristine forest, then end your day with an immersion in the local heritage during guided tours of farms and cheese dairies: you'll discover the secrets of making Beaufort and Raclette cheese before savouring these Savoyard delicacies by the fireside.
Peisey-Vallandry offers a clever mix of adrenaline, authenticity and conviviality to make your holiday an unforgettable adventure.
