Disc Golf: The game that will get you hooked!
THE PRINCIPLE
Open from June 20th to October 5th
From spring to autumn, Peisey-Vallandry invites you to (re)discover Disc Golf, an original sport that is gaining popularity in France... and is already a hit in the United States! The idea is simple: following rules similar to those of golf, you try to throw a disc with your arm into a basket placed further away. The aim is to win the game using as few throws as possible.
THE RULES
Disc golf is an outdoor flying disc sport. It is a technical discipline that requires concentration and precision, combining walking and throwing. The objective is to complete a course consisting of different holes in as few throws as possible. This course consists of 6 holes. At each tee, you will find a detailed description of the hole.
1. Start the game
Players start the game at hole no. 1. One after the other, players throw their disc from the tee area towards the target, which is a metal basket.
2. How the game is played
Once all participants have made their first throw, it is the turn of the player furthest from the basket to throw again from the position where their disc landed. Players whose turn it is not wait behind the thrower. Each throw may be made with the same disc or a different disc.3. Finish the hole
The hole is completed when the disc is in the basket or held by the chains. Landing above the basket or touching it is not sufficient to complete the hole. When all players in the group have completed the hole, proceed to the tee for the next hole.4. Continuation of the course
At the next tee, record the scores for the previous hole on the scorecard (available online or from the golf club) or on the Udisc app, and repeat steps 1 to 3 until the end of the course. At the end of the game, add up all the scores for each hole to determine your final score. The winner is the player with the lowest score, i.e. the fewest number of throws.Special cases:
- Out of bounds (OB): if your disc lands in an out of bounds area, you receive a penalty point. The point of exit from the playing area marks the spot where you must throw your disc again.
- Mandatory or compulsory passage: this course does not have any. However, this means that the disc must pass on the correct side of one or more obstacles.
- Drop zone: the point from which a player restarts after taking a penalty stroke.
- Putt Zone: at least 10 metres from the basket, you are in the ‘putt’ zone. Once you have released your disc, you must keep your balance at the back of your position without falling forward.
- Hazard Zone: when your disc lands in a hazard zone, replay your disc from this position and add a penalty point.
