HIKING
With nearly 450 km of marked hiking trails and the famous GR5, there's always a new route to explore.
HIKING & WALKING IDEAS
- Le Long du Torrent (Easy):
A pleasant trail lined with educational information panels, allowing you to discover the local nature as you walk. This route passes through an exceptional natural setting, making it ideal for a family outing.
- Nant Putor Waterfall (Moderate):
This hike offers stunning views over the entire Rosuel Valley and a refreshing atmosphere during the summer months. Expect some elevation gain, and remember to bring enough water, as parts of the trail are exposed to the sun. The route also includes a stream crossing for an extra touch of adventure.
- Lac de la Plagne (Difficult):
Starting from the Rosuel Mountain Hut, follow the GR5 for much of the route until you reach a panoramic viewpoint overlooking magnificent waterfalls. The trail winds through a beautiful larch forest before reaching the lake, where you can often spot numerous marmots.
Must-See Highlights
- Vallandry Panoramic Terrace (2,130 m)
Overlooking Mont Blanc, this panoramic terrace features deckchairs, a swing and picnic tables, making it the perfect place to relax. Enjoy a picnic before visiting the Mountain Wildlife Museum or setting off on the Homme-Cairn Trail.
- Disc Golf
From 30 June to 5 November, enjoy a 6-hole course listed on UDisc and specially designed at high altitude. Whether you're aiming for a birdie or even an ace, this fun, accessible and 100% free activity is perfect for all ages. Introductory sessions are available throughout the season, and discs can be borrowed free of charge from the Tourist Office.
- Mountain Wildlife Museum
Spread over 120 m², the museum showcases more than 30 Alpine species—including ibex, chamois and ptarmigan—in an exhibition that combines natural history, local artwork and curiosity cabinets for a fun and educational journey into the wildlife of the Vanoise region.
- Homme-Cairn Trail (1.6 km / 30 min)
Accessible from the top of the Vallandry gondola or the Transarc mid-station, this family-friendly trail invites visitors to follow the footsteps of a lost civilisation. Discover gravity-defying stone sculptures, mysterious engravings and marine fossils, then take part in the interactive experience by building a cairn, creating a stone arch or testing your balance on a Japanese stepping-stone course for a playful journey through mountain history.
