Refuge in the Vanoise National Park at an altitude of 2587 m
By reservation only. By telephone on 04 79 07 91 47 / 06 68 28 52 47 or online.
The Col du Palet refuge welcomes you to the heart of an exceptional and wild site. Exceptional, because at the Col du Palet refuge you are perched at an altitude of 2,587 m on the borders of two major valleys of the Vanoise National Park (Rosuel and Glière) and facing the highest point in Savoie (Grande Casse, 3855 m). Wild, because the Col du Palet refuge plunges you into the heart of an unspoilt natural setting, the kingdom of the ibex, the chamois and the bearded vulture.
Overlooking a small high altitude lake, the Col du Palet refuge can be a restful stopover along your trek in the Vanoise or an opportunity to experience the change of scenery of a night spent in a refuge.
An idea for a 2-day hike via the Col du Palet refuge (and why not accompanied by a donkey for families):
- From the Rosuel car park, go up the glacial valley of Ponturin following the GR 5 (red and white markings). After leaving the last melezins, you will cross alpine pastures inhabited by numerous marmots and herds of horned animals, overlooking the Plagne lake before arriving at the Col du Palet refuge (3h30 to 4h walk; 1030 m of positive difference in altitude).
- The return to the valley the next day will take you over three easy passes of more than 2600 m in altitude: Col du Palet, Col de la Croix des Frêtes and Col de la Grassaz from where you will discover a magnificent panorama of the north face of the Grande Casse. You can stop off at the Plan du Sel mountain pasture and discover the secrets of making Beaufort cheese before returning to the previous day's itinerary (5 hours' walk; 360 m of positive altitude difference and 1390 m of negative altitude difference).
On site, we offer you :
- 47 beds in dormitories equipped with duvets and a nearby area for those who choose to bivouac.
- A catering service at lunchtime and in the evening, using fresh, local or organic produce, as well as an off-bag area.
- Theme evenings.
* Games and books
You are curious to know more about the Vanoise Park, its history, its riches and its secrets. Come and spend an evening with a Vanoise National Park warden. He will share with you his job and the exceptional setting in which he works.
Find here the official announcement of the Vanoise National Park.
By reservation only. By telephone on 04 79 07 91 47 / 06 68 28 52 47 or online.
The refuge offers you typical mountain meals during the day, fondue evenings and also overnight stays with breakfast.
Enjoy a gourmet stopover along wild off-piste trails in the heart of the Vanoise National Park, a place for a warm evening by the fire but also the starting point for the Tarentaise Tour
To make the most of your outing, suitable equipment is essential (ski touring, sealskin and safety equipment: DVA, shovel, probe).
We strongly recommend that you are supervised by professionals.
