Refuge du Col du Palet

Perched at an altitude of 2,587 m in the heart of the Vanoise National Park, the Refuge du Col du Palet offers a unique immersion into a wild and preserved mountain environment, facing the Grande Casse and the iconic peaks of the Vanoise range. Located on the GR5 long-distance hiking trail, it is a must-stop destination for multi-day hikers as well as families looking to enjoy a first mountain hut experience.

The refuge features 47 beds in shared dormitories, a restaurant area serving traditional mountain cuisine, and a panoramic terrace perfect for admiring the surrounding scenery. During summer, the wardens welcome visitors in a warm and friendly atmosphere, while in spring and autumn the refuge remains accessible in self-service mode depending on conditions.

Access is mainly from Rosuel, Tignes or Champagny-en-Vanoise via several hiking routes through unspoiled alpine landscapes where ibex, chamois and bearded vultures can often be spotted.

Opening period: staffed refuge from mid-June to mid-September, unstaffed opening in spring and autumn depending on conditions.
