Notre-Dame des Vernettes chapel
Plan Peisey

Peisey-Vallandry
Perched at an altitude of 1800 m, the Notre-Dame des Vernettes sanctuary is an emblematic place in the valley, appreciated for its heritage, its peaceful atmosphere and its exceptional mountain setting.
For over 300 years, Notre-Dame des Vernettes has been deeply rooted in the history and traditions of the valley. A listed historical monument, this site, located at an altitude of 1800 meters, includes a Marian shrine built in 1720, a guesthouse dating from 1766, a chapel oratory near a spring renowned for its healing properties, and a Stations of the Cross. Five ancient pilgrimage routes, marked with crosses, provide access to the site.
A place for meeting, reflection, and discovery, it is frequented year-round by hikers, accessible after about an hour's walk from the last village, and also by skiers thanks to its proximity to the Peisey ski area. Mass is celebrated there every Friday at 10:30 a.m., and traditions continue with the pilgrimages organized each year, notably the one on July 16th, the Feast of Mount Carmel.
The site is open daily and offers several facilities for visitors: picnic tables, orientation table, public toilets in summer as well as an area offering candles, postcards, booklets and souvenirs.
