One of the four official gates of the Vanoise National Park.
In the magnificent Rosuel landscape, at an altitude of 1547 m, the Rosuel refuge-gate has benefited from major work to upgrade the building and its immediate surroundings.
(The building, with its very specific shape, was designed by the architect Christian Durupt in 1971: a wave-shaped roof, designed to minimise the impact of avalanches)
This guarded refuge, owned by the Vanoise National Park, offers
- meal services
For the general public : Restaurant and bar. South-facing wooden terrace, large convivial room with stove. Hiker's kitchen, pies, salads, dish of the day. Desserts and ice creams. Homemade food, local and organic products.
For hikers: an off-bag area.
- Accommodation in dormitories 1 dormitory for 12 peoples, 1 dormitory for 10 peoples, 1 dormitory for 8 peoples, 1 dormitory for 6 peoples, 3 dormitories for 4 peoples. Please bring your own sheet and bag.
Sanitary facilities: On the first floor, 4 showers and 4 toilets for men, on the lower floors: 1 toilets accessible to the disabled + 1 shower
- a bivouac area (reserved for hikers, from 7pm to 8am): 3€ per person + extra shower and non-sack room
- themed evenings (single course meals and entertainment) on reservation, evening meetings with monitors.
- a welcome for all : people with disabilities (lift, room and bathroom adapted for 2 peoples, dedicated activities).
The refuge is now equipped with a reception area that can be recognised by all:
- outside: a geology-themed layout, with a telescope, orientation table, rock samples, explanatory panels in 3 languages, deckchairs and contemplative terraces
- indoors: a reception and information point on the ground floor, discovery areas and a conference/projection room.
National Park hostesses provide information to visitors who can also take advantage of a shop as well as events and exhibitions proposed by the Vanoise National Park during the opening periods. (July and August)
Evenings with a projection and debate with a monitor, conferences, exhibitions on the flora and fauna throughout the summer, exhibition on the bearded vulture, photo exhibition.
Escape games for childrens and adults.
The refuge is accessible by car: end of the departmental road, large outdoor car park
It is an hour's walk from the heart of the National Park, the starting point for many hikes in the Vanoise, on a site with a high number of visitors, the Rosuel refuge-gate enjoys a privileged position on the Via Alpina route (all the Alps), the GR 5 trail (Léman-Méditerrannée), the TMP (Tour du Mont Pourri)
Around the refuge : the Rosuel relaxation area (small lake, self-service barbecues, public toilets, sink with drinking water, petanque area, soft mobility loop, public tables and benches, mountain bike trail, tourist office activities)
